Celebrating 100 years of the Royal Canadian Legion

The Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce invites Legion members, veterans, families, supporters, and the whole community to a special recognition ceremony celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion.

The ceremony takes place Friday, July 17, 2026, at 4:00 PM in Memorial Park in Armstrong.

July 17 is a meaningful date for this milestone. The Royal Canadian Legion was officially incorporated by a special Act of Parliament on July 17, 1926, after several veterans’ organizations came together following the First World War.

For 100 years, the Royal Canadian Legion has supported veterans and their families, preserved the importance of remembrance, and strengthened communities through service, volunteerism, and leadership.

The Armstrong ceremony will include remarks from invited guests, recognition of the Legion’s century of service, and a chance for community members, veterans, families, and supporters to mark this historic anniversary together.
